A turn-by-turn list you can read before you ride, and eight fixes that came out of a day of real riding.
What changed since Build 591
Read the route before you ride it
- Turn-by-turn list on the route preview. Plan a trip, tap Preview Route, and you can read every turn — the road, the distance to it, and a divider between legs on a multi-stop trip. Change a waypoint, preview again, and compare. Two routes of the same length can have very different numbers of turns, and until now there was no way to see that before setting off.
- A roundabout counts as one turn. Roundabouts were counted twice, so the total read higher than the list you were looking at.
On the ride
- Road names are no longer doubled. Instructions like “Bear left onto Westlink Westlink M7″ happened whenever a road’s name already contained its own route number.
- The “you are here” dot on the elevation profile. It sat at 99% of the ride from the first second of every trip — it was measuring the distance to your next turn instead of the distance you had left to go.
My Rides
- Select all, and drag to select. Hold and sweep a finger down the list to select as many rides as you like, instead of tapping each one. Both controls now carry words rather than an icon.
- Delete debug logs when you have no saved rides. The Select control was hidden whenever the rides list was empty, so logs you could see could not be removed — and they run to 18 MB each.
Settings
- The helmet intercom row tells the truth. It was a switch that controlled nothing and claimed a connection on the strength of a permission alone. It is now a status row reporting whether an intercom is genuinely connected — checked on a Cardo, switched off and switched on.
Everything else from Build 591 is unchanged — camera alerts, speed limits, offline maps, ride recording, round trips and the routing sliders all work as before.
Known, and being worked on: on some roads the speed limit can briefly flash red at a legal speed. The cause is understood and the fix is in progress. If it happens, the limit corrects itself within a second or two.
Free tier
The free download is an older build (15 August) and is being refreshed. If you want the current app, take the beta above — it unlocks everything for 60 days from the release date shown at the top, then falls back to the free tier automatically.
How to install
- Download the APK to your phone.
- Open your Files app, tap the downloaded APK.
- Android will prompt you to allow installs from unknown sources — approve once, then install.
- On first run, grant location permission (required for offline navigation).
What we would like to know
This build has not been ridden yet. If you take it out, the things most worth telling us about are:
- Whether the turn-by-turn list matches the ride you actually get.
- Whether the road name under the turn matches the road you are actually on.
- Whether the speed camera banner clears once you have passed the camera, or when you stop.
- Whether the voice names roads the way you would say them.
- Anything the router does that surprises you — especially with the motorway or twisty sliders at their limits.
Use Report a problem in the app menu. It attaches the ride log, which is what makes a report diagnosable.
